What Are Prescription Orthotics?

Prescription orthotics look like insoles, but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance.  Orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as an insole.  They have the advantage of having been made from precise images of your feet.  As each person is unique in their foot structure, arch height and walking form a truly unique orthotic is the only thing that can correct your unique situation.  Be wary of any “orthotic” that hasn’t been designed specifically for you (i.e. can be found off the shelf of a local retailer).  These are simply “modified insoles” that don’t take into account your unique situation and can often worsen or create lasting conditions impacting your lifestyle.

How Do They Help?

Orthotics help restore the normal balance and alignment of your body by gently correcting foot abnormalities.  They gently reduce problems associated with pressure points, muscle strain and abnormal forces on ankles, knees, hip and spine.
